MonuPi
About the Project
MonuPi is a digital learning platform inspired by Montessori principles. Zendeeps was tasked with designing an interface that is intuitive for children while providing powerful tools for educators and parents.
The challenge was to translate physical Montessori materials into a digital format without losing the essence of hands-on learning.
Problem Statement
Existing educational apps often feel too gamified or distracting. MonuPi needed a clean, focused environment that encourages exploration and self-directed learning, adhering to Montessori philosophies.
User Pain Points
- Overstimulation: Many apps use excessive animations and sounds that distract from learning.
- Complex Interfaces: Standard UI patterns can be confusing for young children.
- Disconnect for Parents: Parents often lack visibility into what their children are actually learning.
Our Solutions
We designed a calm, focused interface that prioritizes the learning material:
- Minimalist Design: We used a clean aesthetic with plenty of whitespace to reduce cognitive load.
- Intuitive Interactions: We designed large, touch-friendly controls and drag-and-drop interactions that mimic physical manipulation.
- Parent Dashboard: We created a separate, detailed dashboard for parents to track progress without intruding on the child's experience.
- Gentle Feedback: We implemented subtle visual and auditory cues to guide children without overstimulating them.
Tone & Voice System
The tone is Calm, Supportive, and Simple. Instructions are concise and often accompanied by visual aids to support pre-readers.
Clear Improvements
Before
Concept stage with no defined visual language or user flow.
After
A polished, child-friendly platform that successfully bridges the gap between physical and digital learning.
Reasoning Behind Decisions
We avoided bright, flashing colors in favor of a soft, natural palette to create a calming environment. The decision to use realistic icons and textures helps ground the digital experience in the physical world, which is crucial for Montessori education.
